Has a number of publications to his credit and lectures as invited speaker extensively at home and abroad. His 2020 publication Digital Footprints: A Rights-Based Perspective has been published by the Bangladesh IP Forum/ Bangladesh Intellectual Property Academy (BIPA). His current research interest is focused on the rule of law within the Bangladeshi constitutional scheme and his write-up has appeared in a 2024 Routledge/Taylor and Francis Group, UK publication ”A History of the Constitution of Bangladesh: The Founding, Development, and Way Ahead”.
Has previously worked as a Lawyer in the City of London and with the UNHCR in Hong Kong and Washington, D. C.
Is Founder Member, Global Judicial Institute on the Environment, Brazil. He was instrumental in organizing the 2016 South Asia Judicial Conference on Environment and Climate Change, a milestone event held under the aegis of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank.
Participated in international Roundtables, Workshops, Conferences, Study Tours and Courses held in UK, Germany, Malaysia, The Philippines, India, Nepal, Italy, Singapore, Thailand, USA, Brazil, Myanmar and Bahrain. He notably spoke in November, 2021 as Distinguished Expert Speaker on the topic “Criminalizing Humanitarian Action- A Judicial Perspective” at a conference co-hosted by the School of Law, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Hangzhou, China and ICRC Regional Delegation for East Asia.

Practiced in a wide variety of areas such as Civil, Criminal and Constitutional laws etc. in both Divisions of Bangladesh Supreme Court.
Elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh on 30.06.2009 and appointed Judge of the same Division on 06.06.2011.
During 23.03.2012 to 12.12.2012 and 13.12.2012 to 15.09.2015 worked as Member and Chairman respectively of International Crimes Tribunal(BD)-2. Delivered as many as 11 (Eleven) Judgments with fellow brothers in the International Crimes Tribunal(BD)-2.

Delivered numerous judgments on significant issues including judgment on appointment of Judges to the High Court Division; directives for the District and Sessions Judges as regards providing protocol to the visiting Judges of the Supreme Court; per incuriam decision; anticipatory bail; calculation of the amount of narcotics in diluted condition; use of confessional statement of a co-accused for the purpose of crime control against other accused even if there is a little bit of corroboration of that confessional statement by any sort of evidence either direct or circumstantial; disembodiment of Ansar Battalion in the wake of mutiny in the year 1994; construction of Speaker’s residence within the National Assembly Complex; Speaker’s foreign medical bill; subsequent behavior of the conspirators is considered as the important factor in a case of conspiracy; taking of oath by members of Parliament elected in the 11th National Parliamentary Election before the expiry of the term of previous Parliament considered not illegal.
Participated in an international conference held in Hong Kong (1991), participated in a training program namely “Judicial Governance Program” held in Singapore in July 2015. Attended an International Conference on “International Crimes/State Crimes” held in Buenos Ayres, Argentina in August 2015.

Hon`ble Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha was born on February 01, 1951 in the Village Tilakpur, P.S-Kamalganj, District-Mulvibazar. He is the son of Late Lalit Mohan Sinha and Dhanabati Sinha. Having obtained Bachelor of Laws (LLB) under Chittagong University, he was enrolled as an Advocate of the District Court, Sylhet in 1974 and practiced there under the guidance of two reputed Civil and Criminal Lawyers. He obtained the permission to practice before the High Court Division and Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh in 1978 and 1990 respectively.
Justice Sinha was elevated as Judge of the High Court Division on 24.10.1999 and as Judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh on 16.07.2009. He assumed the office of the Chairman of the Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission on 12.06.2011 and the office of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh on 17.01.2015.
Justice Sinha represented the Chief Justice of Bangladesh in "3rd International Conference of the Chief Justices of the World" held at Lucknow, India in 2002 and presented there a paper on "Fostering respect for International Law". He participated in the "Judicial Training Programme for the Senior Judges of Bangladesh" held at Seoul, Korea in 2006. In response to an invitation from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), he participated in different Seminars on "Judicial Development Programme (Bangladesh)" from August 30 to September 14, 2010 held in Seoul, Korea and presented a Key Note on "Judicial Development of Bangladesh".
In 2012, Justice Sinha led a Bangladesh delegation to Singapore and Indonesia and took part at different meetings with the Chief Justice of Singapore and Chief Justice of Indonesia. Under the leadership of Justice Sinha, in 2013, a Bangladesh delegation visited India and United Kingdom and participated at different sessions with the Chief Justice of India, Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Supreme Court of UK, Royal Courts of Justice, Judicial Appointments Commission in London, Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland, Lord President of Scottish High Court of Justiciary and Judicial Institute for Scotland. Being invited by the National Centre for State Courts, in 2013, he also participated at the "6th International Conference on the Training of the Judiciary" organized by the International Organization for Judicial Training in USA. In 2014, he led a Bangladesh delegation in a visit to Hong Kong and China where the delegation participated at different sessions with the Vice-President of the Court of Appeal of the High Court of Hong Kong, Vice-President of the Supreme People`s Court of China, National Judges College China and High Court of Beijing.
He has visited India, Nepal, Qatar, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, United States, United Kingdom and Canada.

Born in Lakshmipur, Graduated from Victoria College in 1960. Obtained M.A. in Political Science from the University of Dhaka in 1962 and LL.B. from the same University in 1965. Enrolled as an Advocate in the High Court of the then East Pakistan on 28 September, 1966 and as an Advocate in the Appellate Division of Supreme Court of Bangladesh in 1981. Appointed Judge of the High Court Division of Supreme Court of Bangladesh in February 18, 1992.
